Focus Group Discussion with Government officials and Administrators Saturday, January 24, 2009

Representatives from the Government, NGOs and Industrialists participated in the workshop. Discussion points Representatives from the government and industries discussed about the present system of governance and administration in Puducherry. The development of other regions like Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe were also discussed. Experts discussed in length about the specific initiatives that can be taken by citizens, NGOs and other stakeholders to aid the process of good governance in Puducherry. Suggestions given by the participants The group suggested introducing performance-based/scorecard-based system of governance. The group also proposed that PPP model is the way forward. Delegation of power in the government, better liaison communication, reduction in response time, e-governance and regular training for govt. officials were some of the other measures proposed by the group.
