Focus Group Discussion with School Students and their parents Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Schools students from government and private schools in Pondicherry participated in this workshop. Parents of some of the students also participated in the workshop. Discussion points Challenges faced by school students in Puducherry on aspects of curriculum, teaching systems, student– teacher interaction, student workload, extra-curricular activity, examination system and so on were discussed. Suggestions given by the participants Students and parents expressed their views about the examination system, workload, communication skills, extra curricular activities, teacher–student interaction, teacher–student ratio, quality of education, value based education, continuous assessment system, visual learning techniques, joyful learning and so on.
